About Artist & Designer
Victoria Larnach
Victoria is a designer and natural plant dyer for textiles and sustainable fashion. Her work focusses on circular systems within the fashion industry and our relationship to the natural resources that supply them. Each design she creates reflects her connection to nature through plant colour using responsibly sourced dyes and materials. In her workshops, Victoria shares her love of botanical colours and their applications to fibre, while encouraging preservation and sustainable practices of the environment.
History:
Born from a Mauritian mother and Australian father, Victoria grew up in California with a deep connection to the outdoors, the ocean and the natural world, where she was raised to respect and take care of her environment and the biodiversity around her. She adventured to the mountains, the forests, and the sea to hike, explore, rock climb, camp, and surf, immersed in and enchanted by each landscape. Her creativity through art and sewing lead her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Art in Fashion Design through the Art Institute of California, with the desire to continue her work in the outdoor apparel industry. Soon after, Victoria chose to pursue sustainable design and slow fashion, understanding that healthy ecosystems and supply chains are critical to regenerating our earth, and has since dedicated her work to supporting the recovery of nature’s dynamic elements. She forages, collects, and grows many of the dye plants she uses, and applies these to her boutique fashion designs and collections.
Victoria is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
